Guardship Conference helps protect elderly rights
Local social workers and attorney's received additional training today, to help protect the rights of those who can't care for themselves.
More than 2,000 people attended the 13th annual Guardship Conference to learn how to protect the rights of people with dementia, alzheimers or other mental disabilities.
Judge Gamboa says this training will help educate not only social workers but also attorneys who represent either the guardian that's applying or the ward.
The event was sponsored by El Paso County Statutory Probate Courts and the El Paso Probate Bar Association.
