SAN ANTONIO, TX - Governor Rick Perry is criticizing the Obama Administration for not responding to a request for disaster aid.

More than 800 wildfires have charred 1.8 million Texas acres since January.

The governor's comments were made while addressing a state emergency management conference in San Antonio.

"You see hundreds of thousands of acres of Texas burning and you know that there will soon be emergency declarations," said Perry. "We did that now a couple of weeks ago, but still no response from this administration."

The federal declaration would make Texas eligible for response and recovery assistance from FEMA.

"There is a point in time where you say, hey, what's going on here. You have to ask why are you taking care of Alabama and other states? I know our letter didn't get lost in the mail."

I think the Governor is traying to copy the same tricks as former Gov. Schwarzenegger. That land has to belong to someone, and that someone needs to take care of it. He/they know the risks and should take proper action to prevent such and event.

I am sure that it must be George W Bush's fault.

this is too funny given that Governor Perry has been telling the federal government to shove it for months. it's also incredibly stupid that he is now admonishing the administration he has been constantly mocking for not doing more to make him look less inept. open mouth, insert foot.

and why should we get help from the feds anyway? isn't Perry's magic deity on Texas' side? hmm, I wonder why we got absolutely no results from all that praying...

This from the clown that wanted to secede from the country and form his own "island"....what an A$$! Didn't want stimulus monies either but took them. Did I mention he's an A$$???????

Maybe if he wasn't always shooting off his mouth critisizing the powers that be, he'd get some attention. His third term and he still doesn't know how to play the game?
