Government shutdown will impact fall foliage viewing
Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Texas (KTSM) — The government shutdown may also prevent you from seeing some of the Borderland's finest foliage this fall. Every november thousands of people visit McKittrick Canyon in Guadalupe Mountains National Park. That canyon and others in the park come alive with color. The park is currently closed because of the shutdown. While the gridlock in Washington, D.C. may be over by then, trails may still be closed. That's because the park suffered severe damage from last months floods. Repairs were supposed to be finished just in time for the fall foliage, but will now likely be delayed because of the shutdown.
