Governor Rick Perry has put the final seal of approval on the fireworks ban in El Paso County.

Yesterday, he signed an order officially banning personal fireworks from now through July 5th.

He granted County Judge Veronica Escobar's request to declare El Paso as a drought disaster area. El Paso's not alone in this effort to prevent wildfires, as 90 counties statewide are trying to ban fireworks.

The fine if you're caught with fireworks is $500.
