Santa Fe, NM (KTSM) — New Mexico Governor Susanna Martinez finds herself at the center of controversy.
Left leaning political news blog Mother Jones has released several audio tapes where Governor Martinez can be heard making several unflattering comments.
In one Martinez calls former New Mexico Lieutenant Governor Diane Denish the "B" word. In another recording, Martinez makes a comment about teacher pay saying quote, "They already don't work, you know, two and a half months of the year."
Martinez doesn't deny making the comments, but claims the tapes were stolen from debate prep sessions four years ago.
In an email sent this morning, Martinez said Mother Jones is "peddling false, personal attacks against (her) using stolen audiotapes from debate prep sessions four years ago."
"This tabloid is using material from the same people who are under federal indictment and investigation for stealing my personal emails. The same liberals who decry the 'War on Women' are more than happy to promote the same line of attack as those who stole my personal underwear order," Martinez wrote.
In the email, Martinez admitted to calling Denish the "B-word" during a private conversation with her advisors four years ago.
