A new District Ranger has been appointed to serve on the Glenwood Ranger District, Gila National Forest.

Debbie Cress has been selected as the new District Ranger.

"Her knowledge and skills in Range Management and NEPA will serve as an asset to the District and the Forest,” says Forest Supervisor Kelly Russell.

Cress leaves the Tonto National Forest (NF) Supervisor’s Office in Phoenix, Arizona where she served as Range National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) Coordinator.

Cress’ Forest Service career started as a seasonal employee on the Cibola NF in Grants, New Mexico and also on the Beaverhead-Deer Lodge NF in Montana.

She was born in Deming, New Mexico and raised near Hillsboro in a family with a long history of farming and ranching in southern New Mexico.

While on the Gila NF, she and her husband will be able to pursue their interest in enjoying the great outdoors through hiking, canoeing, backpacking, camping, and traveling to scenic locations both near and far.

Cress replaces Pat Morrison, Glenwood District Ranger who is retiring in January.
