A man who allegedly took an envelope containing $6,000 cash from the Lunchbox restaurant October 29th has come forward to return the cash to the rightful owner.

Rafael Contreras, 58, was paying for his meal at the Lunchbox Restaurant, 667 North Carolina Dr., around 3 p.m. when he left an envelope with $6,000 cash on the counter.

When he reached the parking lot, Contreras, realizing he'd forgotten the envelope, walked right back in. Unfortunately, someone else had already taken the envelope.

The man, who was captured on surveillance video at the Lower Valley restaurant came forward over the weekend and the money was returned to its rightful owner Monday.

Police say the man was 76-years old and Contreras decided not to press charges against him. Due to no charges being filed in this case, the identity of the man is not being released.

Police would like to remind anyone with information on any crime to call Crime Stoppers of El Paso immediately at 566-8477 (TIPS), or online at www.crimestoppersofelpaso.org.
