For almost twelve years, the Lee and Beulah Moor Children’s Home has presented their “Winter Wonderland” exhibit as a special gift to their friends and neighbors in the El Paso Southwest. The display was initiated by a gift from Dorothea Purvis, as a replica of a snowy village setting at Christmas and has grown to include over 200 individual pieces of ceramic, wood, and metal structures and figurines.

Constructed in the Lee and Beulah Moor Home’s auditorium, the exhibit now nearly fills the entire room. Some of the notable features of the “Winter Wonderland” display are a working waterfall, a carnival with miniature operating Ferris wheel, meticulously detailed illuminated houses, two working miniature skating rinks, 2 train sets, and an imported Italian Fontanini Nativity set with figurines extending over three feet in height.

In all, it takes more than two weeks worth of labor to construct and design. Organizers say that no two years ever appear the same.

The spectacular display will be open to the public weekdays , 8am to 5pm, and by appointment from now through Tuesday, December 31st. The Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home is located at 1100 Cliff Drive, Building A.
