El Paso Celebration of Lights moved to Cleveland Square Park

The annual Celebration of Lights Festival and parade will have a new home this year. The City of El Paso has announced plans to move the annual event to Cleveland Square Park, 510 Santa Fe St. San Jacinto Plaza, where the design is historically displayed, is currently undergoing construction.

The 2013 evolve Federal Credit Union Celebration of Lights Program will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 starting at 4:30 p.m. and lasting until 7:15 p.m. with a fireworks display.

The Holiday of Lights Parade will also be re-routed due to construction this year. Parade entries will be accepted beginning Thursday in person at the administrative offices for the Programming Division of Parks and Recreation at Armijo Center, 911 S. Ochoa St. or online.

evolve Federal Credit Union will sponsor the largest fireworks display downtown from atop Mills Plaza parking garage. Ken Walters, President and CEO of evolve Federal Credit Union also announced today that the Credit Union with the support of their Board of Directors will be signing up for another 5 year commitment once their current 5 year sponsorship deal expires in 2014.

The General Services Department of the City of El Paso will be setting up the many decoration and lights at Cleveland Square Park with work beginning in the coming weeks.

The display is expected to move back to San Jacinto Plaza as soon as construction is complete.
