General Motors' second-quarter profits beat analysts expectations. The Detroit-based automaker reported a net income of 1-point-2 billion dollars, or 75 cents a share. That's down from a year earlier, but revenue rose to 39-point-1 billion.

GM also trimmed its losses in Europe by 72-percent, but earning stalled in the international unit that includes china and asia.
