EL PASO (KTSM) — For the last 1,000 days, gas has averaged more than $3 a gallon, according to Triple-A.
"It's hard when you have big cars like this and then you got to fill it up," said Chris Gonzalez.
Gonzalez said he drives a small car too, because the gas is just too expensive.
We asked Gonzalez, “How often do you drive your truck?”
"Not that often. I have a small car too because it's four cylinders and that one is like what $30 or $40 and this one is a $120," said Gonzalez.
Gonzalez, a construction worker, said he has to look for work in other cities just to make up for it.
"I have to go to San Antonio to work because right here $7.25 an hour is pretty hard and then have prices, rent, and bills," said Gonzalez.
Well, there's bad news for Gonzalez and all drivers.
Triple-A estimates unless there's another recession, high gas prices may be here to stay.
Triple-A said this started after Hurricane Katrina slammed into the gulf, destroying oil rigs.
