Nationwide Gang Crackdown Nets 17 Arrests in El Paso

A nationwide crackdown on gangs netted more than 20 arrests in the borderland.
The bust was part of a 6-month investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. It was called Operation Community Shield and it focused on criminal street gangs. Seventeen people were arrested in El Paso, four in Las Cruces, and 37 in Deming. Nationwide, more than 17-thousand people were arrested.
