Springtime means hunting, hiking, fitness and the great outdoors for many Texans. In 2015 it will also mean new opportunities for outdoors enthusiasts in West Texas.  Gander Mountain is once again expanding the nation’s largest and fastest growing network of outdoor specialty stores with a new location in El Paso set to open in the spring of 2015.

“Gander Mountain is already a well-known and trusted name in Texas among those who love the outdoors, and who enjoy great traditions like hunting, fishing, hiking, boating and camping,” said David Pratt, Gander Mountain’s President and CEO. “We are thrilled to bring a new Gander Mountain store to El Paso, and give our friends in West Texas more opportunities to experience our top-quality gear and knowledgeable service at great prices.”

Gander Mountain in El Paso will be located in a 52,000-square-foot store in a newly constructed shopping center, near the junction of Joe Battle Blvd. and Montwood Drive. It will be the 18th Gander Mountain location in Texas, joining existing stores in Amarillo, Beaumont, College Station, Corsicana, Houston, Lewisville, Lubbock, Mesquite, Round Rock, San Antonio, Sherman, Spring, Sugar Land, Texarkana, Tyler, a newly-opened store in Arlington and a new store coming to Lake Worth in the fall.

“As Mayor, I am excited about their presence and interest in investing in El Paso,” said Oscar Leeser, Mayor of El Paso. “The new store will bring new jobs to our community as well as an additional retail options for our constituents. I welcome Gander Mountain and look forward to their presence in the community for years to come.”

“We appreciate the warm welcome we have received from the people in El Paso and look forward to our grand opening in the fall,” said Eric Jacobsen, Gander Mountain’s Executive Vice President and Director of Real Estate.

According to a press release from the company, Gander Mountain’s newest store will feature one of the largest selections of new and used firearms in Texas and offer an extensive selection of outdoor accessories and apparel.

That is so great all these new stores coming to El Paso, I see that the city is really growing, but what about more amenities and things for family's to do together. This is such a huge complaint among even native El El Pasoians. Six Flages, or even update and expand Wet-n-Wild, I know the zoo has been working hard to update but believe it has a long way to go, more botanical gardens. El Paso needs to be more family oriented as far as activities!
