NEW ORLEANS - Planned Parenthood will not get funding from the state of Texas.
That decision by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals Tuesday night.

Planned Parenthood is suing the state, after Texas legislators voted to stop funding it under its Women's Health Program, because they provide abortions.

A judge in a U.S. district court said the state had to continue funding the programs while the lawsuit was ongoing, but Tuesday the appeals court reversed that.

"The 5th Circuit's decision is a win for Texas women, our rule of law and our state's priority to protect life. We will continue to work with Attorney General Abbott in the fight to defend our state laws," said Gov. Rick Perry in a statement.

Planned Parenthood provides health services to lower-income patients.
