'Fun Zone' planned near AAA ballpark
El Paso, TEXAS (KTSM) — El Paso leaders want to turn the area around the city's new baseball stadium into a fan fun zone.
The city plans on creating a plan or protocol that area businesses can follow to hold special events around the ballpark.
The goal is to capitalize on all the pedestrian traffic the ballpark will bring to the downtown area.
"Maybe at some times in the Union Depot area closing down streets, if they wanted to take advantage of a pedestrian area, allowing individuals to enjoy alcoholic beverages, these sorts of fun entertainment activities," said City Rep. Cortney Niland.
The city hopes to hear from several business owners before presenting an official plan.
