EL PASO- NewsChannel 9 will be talking to Customs and Border Protection today, finding out about the future of the ports of entry in El Paso.

Discussions over full-time southbound checks and expanding the ports of entry.

We'll also examine consequences on this side of the border, including the possibility of increased checkpoint traffic.

I can see the good intentions behind this project; if done right, it will certainly reduce car thefts in El Paso, and maybe Customs will intercept some southbound drug money. But on the flip side, the Spaghetti Bowl will turn into a parking lot; and the Mexicans will still be crying about our gun laws causing the mess in their country. Southbound checks will do nothing to stop the chaos in Mexico. If that was so, the Mexicans would have (and should have) implemented them already.

isint that the responsibility of mexico customs???oh well we already provide most civic services for them anyway...school hospital food stamps ect.....
