Friends are remembering a 21-year-old who was killed at a party in east El Paso Sunday morning.

Police said 21-year-old Cameron Canada got into a fight outside the party and 24-year-old Samuel Perez stabbed Canada twice in the chest.

Friends gathered at the True Holiness Church in northeast El Paso to trade memories of their friend.

They said Cameron was ready to start a new life in Alaska.

"I bought him a plane ticket three weeks ago and he was suppose to fly to Alaska today," said friend Marcus Mckaige. "Now I'm not so bad but I'm still sad and grieving but I'm moving on because I know Cam wouldn't want us to be crying and sad because that's the type of person he was."

Samuel Perez is charged with Canada's murder.

The family hasn't confirmed funeral arrangements yet.
