EL PASO - Holidays can be rough for children who don't have families. That's why Workforce Solutions Upper Rio Grande and the El Paso Foster Youth Association joined forces on Saturday.
They hosted about 300 current and former foster youth for a day of food, fun and learning. The kids received Easter baskets that were donated by students from Cathedral High School.
"When you see their smiles and you see the contributions that you can do, I think, is when you realize that you need to share more," Workforce Solutions Chief Operating Officer Teo Ugalde said.
"It's been great, not only fun as parents but fun for the kids. They get to see a lot of other people, socialize with other kids their age, and it's a lot of fun," Juan Murillo said.
Workforce Solutions says the goal of today's Youth Easter Picnic was to bring joy to the kids and their families and let them know the community cares about them.
