Students interested in attending one of the United States service academies received information at a forum Saturday held at the El Paso Community College Mission del Paso campus.

It was hosted by Congressmen Beto O'Rourke and Pete Gallego, along with Texas Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz.

Students met with representatives from the United States Military Academy, Merchant Marine Academy, Air Force and Naval academies.

Representatives said they look for students with good grades, a record community service, and a commitment to serve our country.

"We still need to produce officers and highly educated, well-trained men and women into our different armed services, and so these service academies are an excellent way to do that," said Congressman Beto O'Rourke.
