Fort Bliss Welcomes Home More Soldiers

More Fort Bliss soldier will be arriving from Afghanistan Tuesday.

More than 300 soldiers were scheduled to touch down at Biggs Army Airfield. Following Tuesday’s arrival, there will be several more return flights to ferry the nearly 2,500 Soldiers from 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division currently in Afghanistan.

The soldiers are part of the ‘Bulldog’ Brigade that deployed from Fort Bliss in September 2011. They are the first BCT with 1st Armored Division to serve in Afghanistan. Over the course of their 10-month deployment, the Bulldog Soldiers partnered and conducted joint operations with Afghanistan National Security Forces to teach, coach, and mentor Afghan Soldiers and police.

The Bulldog Brigade conducted more than 100 Air Assaults, more than 1000 combat missions and patrols, and captured more than 100 high value targets.
