El Paso, TX (KTSM) — In Thursday's, State of the Military Address, Major General Sean MacFarland covered a variety of topics, including the image of El Paso.
"We have to overcome false stereotype and perception both this post and its city," said MacFarland.
The city gained negative attention when in 2008, the violence in Juarez surged.
Recently, the city made headlines because of the EPISD scandal.
MacFarland says, this all has to change in order for top military talent to get assigned here.
"We have an initiative now thats already two years old, It's called the imaging campaign" said Bill Blazek with the El Paso Convention and Visitor's Burea.
They have also launched the "Digital Ambassador" program through the "It's All Good" Campaign.
They use social media sites to promote El Paso. All residents are invited to sign up. In return you receive points that go toward prizes.
