El Paso, TX (KTSM) — A group of soldiers from Fort Bliss that deployed yesterday to Guam have landed safely.
More than 100 soldiers of the 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command are scheduled to deploy and some 56 have already arrived.
Today, the remaining troops will leave for Guam and Fort Bliss will send their "THAAD" missile launchers on the mission as well.
As we've reported, troops will be operating the "THAAD," also known as the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense System, which is designed to shoot down enemy missiles should North Korea decide to attack regional allies.
No word on how long Fort Bliss soldiers will stay in Guam. A spokesperson from Fort Bliss said troops will remain there until tensions with North Korea subside.
