Three hundred Fort Bliss soldiers will be arriving here following their deployment to Wardak and Logar Provinces in Afghanistan.

They were scheduled to touch down at Biggs Army Airfield at 8:30 pm on Friday, July 6.

The soldiers were part of the 'Bulldog' Brigade that deployed from Fort Bliss in September 2011. They are the first BCT with 1st Armored Division to serve in Afghanistan. Over the course of their 10-month deployment, the Bulldog Soldiers partnered and conducted joint operations with Afghanistan National Security Forces to teach, coach, and mentor Afghan Soldiers and police.

The Bulldog Brigade conducted more than 100 Air Assaults, more than 1000 combat missions and patrols, and captured more than 100 high value targets.

The brigade has lost 12 Soldiers since the start of their deployment, most recently on June 29, when Sgt. James L. Skalberg, Jr., died of wounds suffered when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device.
