Several communities at Fort Bliss are going green!
Tuesday morning, a ribbon cutting ceremony took place to kick off the first round of solar systems which will be installed in residential homes at Fort Bliss.

Balfour Beatty Communities partnered up with SolarCity to outfit up to 4,000 military homes with solar energy.  The ceremony was held in the La Noria neighborhood.

"Balfour Beatty is very excited to work with the army to have the worlds largest solar community so this is not just another small solar project is actually the world's largest solar power community in Texas," said Tabitha Crawford of SolarCity.

The solar energy project was developed in direct support of Army's "net zero initiative".  It's expected to be finished in the next three years.
