FORT BLISS - Addressing the deadly shooting at Fort Bliss could not have been easy for Major General Dana Pittard.

He took over top duties at the post just two months ago.

He had no clue he would soon be holding a news conference about a retired army sergeant who shot two women in the head at a Fort Bliss grocery store.

I know this goes against the grain these days, what with the disgusting and cowardly example of the President and all, but the last guy's responsibility ended the moment MG Pittard assumed command. So it has always been for soldiers; by the time the new commander hands the guidon or colors back to his First Sergeant or Sergeant Major, the "last commander" has ceased to exist. I bet you won't see MG Pittard whining about his misfortune; quit making him look bad by whining for him!
