Tomorrow is Independence Day, but the celebrations started today. Fort Bliss held a "50 Gun Salute to the Union Ceremony" on post this morning to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

"If we fail to recognize and honor this country and the fact it's our birthday, this country will cease to exist. Look at history. Look at the countries that have rose to high peaks and disappeared and so forth," said Robert Way, a retired Marine.

The flags of all 50 states were also presented during today's ceremony.
