Las Cruces, N.M. — A former Las Cruces city employee has been indicted by a grand jury.
Last week 36-year-old Rene Garcia was charged with soliciting or receiving illegal kickbacks and conspiracy.

Garcia is accused of using the city's credit card to buy a $1,000 grill and listed the purchase as miscellaneous pool supplies to the city.
Garcia is also accused of receiving money from the store in exchange for purchasing supplies used at city pools.
