A jury Friday sentenced Lorenzo Garcia, after his guilty plea in June admitting to getting kids out of taking the TAKS test to get federal money and bonuses. He also confessed to getting a contract secured for his girlfriend.  

Garcia will face a sentence 3.5 years to begin immediately at La Tuna Federal Prison in Anthony, Texas. 

In addition, Garcia will need to pay a $56.5 thousand fine and $180 thousand in restitution.

In my opinion Garcia got off way too easy. I hope they don't send him to a posh cottage prison. Send to the federal prison in UTAH for hard core offenders because that is what he is. He played with childrens futures. I hope his wife, maybe ex-wife by now takes his ill gained money.
