A former El Paso County Commissioner is now running for city council. Tania Chozet has filed paperwork with the muncipal clerk's office, and is hoping to become a representative for District 7. That seat is currently held by Steve Ortega, but he is running for mayor. Chozet served on Commissioner's Court for a short time last year after Willie Gandara Jr. resigned.

Chozet will face several challengers. Luis Leon, ramon Mendoza, Todd Miller, and Jaime Perez have all filed paperwork to run for the open seat.

I respectfully disagree with "Interested El Pasoan". I am Todd Miller and I am running for city council representative district #7. I wanted to inquire how you are basing your comment of, "The other candidates for District 7 or Mayor are either bad candidates or just so so." Is this a fact based comment? Have you looked into the other candidates? Or is this just your personal opinion? I do not view myself, my education nor my professional experience as "so, so". Please respond.

Hey Mr. T. Miller, I based my opionion (which is my right) on my review of the other candidates, including yourself. Unfortunately for you your response (which is also your right) to my original comment only confirms what I said. You appear to be too thin skinned for political office, which requires that a person not just have the education, training, & experience but he/or she must also be fair, honest & have the fortitude to handle the position as a public servant in a responsible & just way.

Wow, this is good news. To me she is the better candidate. Hopefully eventually she will decide to run for Mayor. Non of the current candiadates for Mayor impress me, including Ortega who is too full of himself. The other candidates for District 7 or Mayor are either bad candidates or just so so.
