EL PASO--- A Grand Jury has indicted a former deputy constable in the shooting of an East El Paso man Wednesday, district attorney's office spokesperson said.
Newschannel 9 brought you the breaking story first on NewsChannel 9 at five.
Deputy Constable Mario Ramos was indicted on a felony charge of first degree aggravated assault against Juan Ortegon, said Renee Railey, of the El Paso District Attorney's office.
As NewsChannel 9 has reported, Ramos shot the man last August. A Department of Public Safety incident report released to NewsChannel 9 in September stated Ramos pursued Ortegon by vehicle after Ortegon did not adhere to a traffic stop. The report states at some point, Ramos claimed Ortegon stopped his vehicle near Lee Trevino and Montwood, and fled. That when he shot him.
Ramos was previously indicted on an un-related sexual assault charge earlier this month.
He also was fired by Constable Alex Gamboa two weeks ago.
