Former Bowie asst. principal suing EPISD
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — A former Bowie High School Assistant Principal is suing the El Paso Independent School District for $1 million, claiming the district is retaliating against her for cooperating with the authorities in the cheating investigation.
As we reported, Anna Luisa Kell was fired back in October, after the Federal Bureau of Investigation's probe into the cheating scandal was closed.
She claims the district knew she was cooperating with authorities and waited until the investigation was complete to fire her.
She is claiming relief under whistleblower protections.
Mark Berry, Kell's attorney, wrote in the petition, "The investigation was a sham and found no legitimate reason to discharge or libel plaintiff."
The school district's attorneys must reply to the lawsuit by July 15th.
