Flash flood watch in effect for El Paso, Las Cruces through Friday morning

Flash Flooding In Flood Prone Areas
El Paso — We are under a flash flood watch through Friday morning. That watch, originally through Wednesday, was extended Tuesday. High pressure to the west and low pressure to the east is ushering in subtropical moisture. Our region will remain under moist unstable air through Friday.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected through this afternoon and this evening. West Texas and southern New Mexico will get numerous showers and thunderstorms. Flash flooding in flood prone areas. Many locations will receive rainfall between 1-4 inches.
Flash flooding will increase as the week progresses.
El Paso Water Utilities has several sandbag distribution sites:

* West Keystone Heritage Park - 120 Kappa Road;
* Central Street Wastewater Treatment Plant 913 S. Boone St.;
* East Album Park; Mission Valley Blackie Chesher Park
9292 Escobar Drive.
All locations open until 8 p.m.
