EPDOT: The public is advised that Robinson between Rim and Clayton has reopened to the traveling public, the City of El Paso Department of Transportation (EPDoT) announced.

Robinson was closed temporarily due to weather-related issues from today's rainstorm. Altura from Lackland to Pershing reopened earlier today.

Virginia from New York to Robinson and Fairbanks from Gateway North to Shenandoah remain closed. Traffic is being detoured through nearby streets. The closures will remain in effect until further notice. The roadways will reopen once they are safe for the traveling public.

EPDoT recommends that drivers stay off the roadways, if at all possible. Those who do travel should use extreme caution and maintain safe speeds and distances from other vehicles during this rainstorm.

TXDOT: Transmountain will remain closed overnight, rocks continue to fall endangering TxDOT crews.

Tomorrow morning they will be out early cleaning up the area (weather permitting).

Sun Metro: Sun Metro's fixed-route service & LIFT paratransit service experiencing delays due to hazardous roads conditions and traffic

Fort Bliss:

-  On West Fort Bliss, Barricades in place at Haan and Jeb Stuart / Haan road
and Chaffee Road

- Haan Road (West Fort Bliss), from Jeb Stuart thru Carrington Road is
flooded

- All civilians released

- Soldier release is up to the discretion of each command

- All child development centers, school-age centers and middle school and
teen centers will remain open for normal operations.

- Stout and Soto physical fitness centers will remain open for normal
operations. All other gyms have closed.

- Fort Bliss Army Community Service will remain open until 4:30pm with
limited staff.

- All other Family and MWR facilities are closed, and are scheduled to
resume normal operations Friday.

- Several parking lots have flooded; ditches are no longer visible

- Pershing drainage pond is flooded

EP Parks and Rec: The El Paso Parks and Recreation Department would like to announce that all Baseball, Softball, Soccer and Youth Football games are cancelled though the upcoming weekend.

Games will start again on their regular schedule on Monday, September 16, 2013. Information - (915) 534-0254.

EPDoT: The public is advised that a section of Fairbanks Drive has been temporarily closed due to weather-related issues from today's rainstorm, the City of El Paso Department of Transportation (EPDoT) announced.

Fairbanks will be temporarily closed from Gateway North to Shenandoah. Other temporary closures include: Altura from Lackland to Pershing; and Robinson between Rim and Clayton.

All closures will remain in effect until further notice. The roadways will reopen once they are safe for the traveling public. Traffic will be temporarily detoured through nearby streets.

Socorro ISD: SISD afterschool activities have been cancelled with the exception of the Eastlake vs. Riverside football game. The EHS game is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. and it will be a game-time decision whether or not it will be played.

EP Parks and Rec: McKelligon Canyon is now closed, and once the area is evacuated with existing patrons, the area will be closed until tomorrow.

Guadalupe Nat'l Park: Park Superintendent Dennis A. Vásquez announced that most of the park has been closed, until further notice, due to heavy rains and flooding.

The closures affect the following areas of the park: McKittrick Canyon, Frijole Ranch, the Pinery, the Pine Springs Campground, Williams Ranch, the Salt Basin Dunes, Dog Canyon and all backcountry areas, unpaved roads and trails.

Park staff is evacuating visitors from the Pine Springs Campground. However, the Pine Springs Visitor Center remains open to provide information and assist motorists.

Road Closures

 EPSO: All roads south of Socorro Road are flooded, we are asking drivers to take alternative routes. Please avoid water crossings, under passes and other areas that are prompt to flooding such as arroyos.

The Lower Valley Water District is providing 2 vacuum trucks to clear the crosswalks for the children when they are released from school.
 

The Village of Vinton : currently reporting that most residential roads are impassable at this time due to the heavy rain fall.

The public is advised that a segment of Altura Avenue has been temporarily closed due to weather-related issues, the City of El Paso Department of Transportation (EPDoT) announced today.

Altura will be closed to the traveling public from Lackland to Pershing until further notice. Robinson Street also has been closed temporarily due to the rainfall.

EPDoT will be clearing up debris that has washed up onto Robinson between Rim and Clayton due to the rain. The roadway will reopen once it is safe for the traveling public. Traffic will be temporarily detoured through nearby streets.

Sheriff’s Department has closed Doniphan, between FM 259 & Anthony Rd. 

TxDOT crews removing water

TX-DOT officials have confirmed Trans mountain Road is also closed because of impassable road conditions caused by a rock slide.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) District One office is assisting law enforcement with the closure of NM-51 in the Truth or Consequences/Elephant Butte area. This is due to flooding and water rising.

Roadway alerts will be posted on the NMDOT we www.nmroads.com which can be retrieved by call 511 in New Mexico, or 1-800-432-4269 out of state.

Loop 375 Trans Mountain due to rock slide (El Paso County) 
FM 1437 Flooding and high water (Hudspeth County) 
FM 2249 Flooding and high water (Hudspeth County) 
FM 1576 Flooding and high water (Hudspeth County) 
FM 1108 Flooding and high water (Culberson County) 
FM 1111 Flooding and high water (Hudspeth County)

Cancellations

The El Paso Parks and Recreation Department would like to announce that all baseball as well as earlier announced softball games scheduled tonight are cancelled.

All City of Las Cruces athletic fields are closed today (Thursday, September 12, 2013) due to inclement weather. For more information contact Rudy Trevino at (575) 541-2578.

The Greater El Paso Landfill is closing early today due to poor road travel conditions at the landfill caused by the rainfall, the city’s Environmental Services Department announced.
 

The landfill, at 2300 Darrington Road, will be closed to the general public effective immediately to ensure the safety of Environmental Services customers and employees.
 

The landfill will resume normal operating hours on Friday (September 13, 2013). The landfill is normally open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

WEBSTER UNIV ON BLISS, cancelled for tonight

Due to severe rain falling in our area, the San Elizario Independent School District is canceling all after-school activities for Thursday, September 12, 2013.

All students are currently safe at school but if parents wish to pick up their children they may do so.

GISD all parent meetings CANCELLED tonight

Ysleta ISD has announced a few cancellations tonight due to inclement weather.

The homecoming parade for Ysleta and Eastwood have both been cancelled for tonight.

Hanks vs. San Elizario JV game has also been canceled.

The City Magazine launch party has ben rescheduled for next Thursday, September 19th the same place and time.

Delays

Heavy rains and flooding over many areas of El Paso and West Texas are causing delays in transportation schedules for non-emergency medical passengers who utilize the Project Amistad Transit System.

Project Amistad passengers who need additional assistance or have questions may call the agency's Call Center at  915-532-3415.
