A plane crashed in Ruidoso near the Sierra Blanca Regional Airport. Two people were taken to a local hospital after being pulled from the wreckage.

Officials said that a total of seven people were on board and five people died as a result. We are told the plane was trying to get to the airport but didn't reach the runway.

The crash caused a fire that spread over an acre of land before fire crews were able to put it out. The plane was registered to an aviation company in Texas.
