LAS CRUCES-- An Arizona man was arrested Thursday night after he allegedly fired several shots from a handgun in front outside of Dublin's Street Pub.

David O. Velasquez Jr., 23, of Phoenix Ariz., has been charged with one count of shooting at or from a motor vehicle.

Las Cruces police were called to the popular college hang-out on University Ave. before 9 p.m. Witnesses reported hearing several shots that were fired from a black Hummer with Washington state license plates.

LCPD arrived and found five spent shell casings on Wisconsin Ave., behind the pub, and also found the Hummer in the pub's parking lot.

Velasquez was with friends inside Dublin's and was detained as he attempted to walk away from the area.

A passenger of the Hummer told LCPD that Velasquez fired several rounds from the SUV because he was bored and wanted to shoot his gun. LCPD said Velasquez had no intended target. No injuries were reported.

After obtaining permission to search the Hummer, officers found a .40 caliber handgun under a floor mat in the rear seat area.

Velasquez was taken to the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $5,000.
