El Paso firefighters extinguished a trash fire in South Central.

Dispatchers say the fire started around 3:20 p.m. at 4100 Delta, near Boone St. at the PSB Water Treatment Plant.

The initial fire units on the scene reported heavy smoke billowing from a small shed inside the water treatment plant. The fire involved machinery used to remove odor from the air that also contains a system using bleach and caustic soda.

The fire was contained to the shed where it began, and was under control within 25 minutes, according to EPFD.

Operation of the plant is operating as normal and no one was injured.

13 units and 35 fire personnel responded to the incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation with the assistance of the PSB.
