An overnight fire caused extensive damage to a home in Northeast El Paso.

The fire broke out at approximately 10:51 p.m. Thursday evening at a home located at 5056 Sagittarius Ave. When firefighters arrived, they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the single story home.

Approximately eight fire trucks and twenty-two firefighters responded to the fire.

Fire Investigators say that no one was inside the home at the time of the fire. Four to six teenagers who were staying at the home were reported to the fire investigator and were on the scene by the time firefighters arrived.

EPFD were able to control the flames within twenty minutes, but the house sustained heavy fire damage to more than half of the home and extensive smoke damage throughout.

A fire investigator has since determined that the fire started in the garage and damages are estimated at $100,000. At this time the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
