Fire officials investigating local bookstore fire
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — A man is in hot water after authorities said he started a fire at a popular bookstore in West El Paso.
The blaze was sparked Tuesday just after 10 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble off Sunland Park.
We're told when El Paso Firefighters arrived at the store, they detained a man who was possibly in his 40's lighting some books on fire with a lighter and lighter fluid.
The fire was quickly extinguished using a fire extinguisher and the fire damage was contained to a small section of the bookstore.
No injuries were reported.
Damages are estimated a $2,500.
The man was taken into custody for a medical evaluation and the investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed against the man at this time.
