Fire Destroys Mobile Home In Horizon City

HORIZON CITY, Texas -- A mobile home is a total loss after catching fire east of Horizon City Thursday night.

The fire started just before 9 p.m. on the 15610 block of Lowell Road.

Horizon Fire officials said a 15-year-old went to meet up with his 83-year-old grandmother and when they returned they noticed smoke coming out the back of the mobile home.

The Horizon Fire Department responded to the fire from about eight miles away within nine minutes of receiving the call.

They said it took about 25 mins to control the blaze, but the home was a total loss and uninsured according to the sheriff's office.

The grandmother, the 15-year-old and a 13-year-old who live at the home will be receiving help from the Red Cross.

No injuries were reported. Estimated damage is $25,000 and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
