EL PASO - A fire in the Borderland has left a family without a place to stay.

Flames sparked up in one of the apartments of a Central El Paso quadruplex just after 6pm. When firefighters got to the area they say they checked and evacuated all four apartments. Tonight everyone is safe thanks to a fast response from firefighters and a quick thinking neighbor.

"I turned behind me and I saw the smoke coming out of the house. I went, knocked on the door and nobody answered so I ran down the street to tell the fire department that a fire started," Rodolfo Ibarra said.

"An individual went to the station and told us there was a fire on Douglas. There was about a one minute response time by crews in the station. Upon arrival we saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the quadruplex," Battalion Chief Ramon Valencia said.

Firefighters treated one woman on scene, but we are told there are no serious injuries.

Only one of the families has been displaced by the fire, and the Red Cross is helping them out.
