A fire has claimed the life of a Las Cruces man. It happened just before 10:00 a.m. in the 2300 block of Dr. King Way. David Halpern, 46, was found lying unconscious near the front door. Investigators believe the fire was accidental but have not determined an exact cause. They say the smoke detectors in the home were not working.
