HOUSTON - Thunderstorms packing strong winds have downed trees in the Houston area and left thousands of people without power.

Centerpoint Energy reported more than 4,500 customers without power today as crews worked to restore service.

At least two houses and a barn suffered damage.

No injuries have been reported.
