Female veterans walk in fashion show at Fort Bliss
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — Servicewomen at Fort Bliss traded in their combat boots for a pair of stilettos on Saturday to walk the runway in a special fashion show honoring their service.
The organization "Little Black Dress" has partnered with the veteran campaign "Fatigues to Fabulous" to help vets find work and get access to services like healthcare once they leave the Army.
The two groups held a fashion show called "Salute the Runway" on Saturday at Fort Bliss, where 15 veterans walked the runway in designer clothes.
One lucky veteran was chosen to go to New York Fashion Week and walk in the "Salute the Runway" show there.
"We sacrifice for our country, we're soldiers, but at the same time, we are women, we are mothers, and we are so many things and I think that it's amazing that you have an organization to acknowledge that and to celebrate the many things that women are," said CheLinda Rivas, a U.S. Army Reservist.
"Salute the Runway" travels to different military posts and bases across the country and their next stop is Fort Hood.
