Las Cruces Police arrested a man suspected of throwing a rock through the window of a vehicle carrying his ex-girlfriend and their two children.

Daniel A. Jurado-Estrada, 25, faces charges on two counts of negligent child abuse and one count of aggravated assault against a household member.

Police were called to the east side parking lot of the Mesilla Valley Mall Tuesday night, where police learned that Jurado-Estrada and his ex-girlfriend were leaving the mall with their two children, ages 2 and 2-months, when they got into an argument.

Detectives discovered that after the 27-year-old woman got into her vehicle with the two children, Jurado-Estrada picked up a rock and hurled it through the passenger-side window. A Mesilla Valley Mall security guard approached and the woman was able to flag him down and ask for assistance.

The woman and two children were not injured though detectives found shattered glass throughout the interior of the vehicle.

Jurado-Estrada was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
