A 35-year-old father has been arrested and charged with negligent child abuse after three toddlers were found wandering around a Mesilla Park neighborhood Wednesday morning.

A neighbor called 911 just before 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning to report seeing a 2-year-old girl wandering around wearing pink pajamas in the 4800 block of South Main Street. A Dona Ana County Sheriff's Deputy arrived and found the little girl standing in the middle of the street.

Other neighbors in the area said they didn't know where the little girl lived, but said that two  3-year-old twin boys were also walking throughout the neighborhood without any adults present.

The DASCO Deputy was able to locate the two little boys, who were wearing only their diapers. None of the three children had socks or shoes on, and all reportedly had soiled diapers.

After speaking to neighbors in the area, the deputy was able to determine which home the children lived in and was able to make contact with the kid's father, Angel Flores, 35. Flores appeared to have just woken up and told the deputy that he wasn't even aware that his children had left the home and were wandering in the street.

Flores was arrested and charged with negligent child abuse. He was taken to the Doña Ana County Detention Center where he is being held on a $10,000 secured bond.
All three children were turned over to the New Mexico Children Youth and Families Department.
