Some sliced apples sold at McDonald's and Burger King are part of a nearly nationwide recall. Texas and New Mexico were not involved in the recall.

Sliced or diced apples may have been contaminated with listeria before being shipped all over the country.

A subsidiary of Ready Pac recalled nearly 300-thousand cases and 300-thousand individually packaged items sent to 36 states and Washington, D.C.

Listeria can cause potentially serious or life-threatening illness with symptoms of fever, nausea, or diarrhea.
