'Fast and Furious' actor Paul Walker dead at 40

Santa Clarita, CA (KTSM) — Actor Paul Walker died in a fiery car crash in Santa Clarita, CA on Saturday afternoon according to representatives for the actor. Walker was 40.
A statement on the actor's Facebook and twitter account released late Saturday night said "It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time."
Walker's breakout role was in the 1999 film Varsity Blues, but became famous for his role in the "Fast and Furious" franchise. Walker also starred in other films "Eight Below," "Into the Blue," and "She's all That."
Walker was reportedly assisting in a charity event for the Philippines typhoon relief effort at the time of the crash.
