An elderly couple is staying with family following a fire at their home early Saturday morning.

According to investigators, the flames broke out shortly before 9 a.m. at the quadruplex complex where the couple resides on the 12300 block of Lorenzo Ruiz Avenue in Far East El Paso, near Loop 375.

An El Paso Fire Department spokesman told NewsChannel 9 that couple was able to evacuate and that the fire was contained to one of the bedrooms.

Investigators said they believe the fire began in the bedroom's closet, though the cause is still undetermined.

Damage is estimated at $5,000.
