EL PASO, TX - Family and friends were out helping the Ramos family clean-up so they can start to rebuild their lives.
Friday, a fire destroyed their home after Luciano Ramos tried to get rid of a beehive with fire and smoke. Now ash is all that's left of everything Dolores Ramos and her family owned.
"They want to go home, even my daughter tells me 'I want to go home momma,' but for now this is our home, my mother-in-law's house."
While Dolores Ramos talked to us, her husband, friends, and even her 10-year-old son were out sweeping up the ashes of their lives.
"We lost everything. A lifetimes worth of work. We've been here for 15 years trying to finish the house and this happens all of a sudden. It's like a blink of the eye and everything is gone."
Ramos says to make matters worse her 14-year old daughters quinceanera is just two weeks away. She says the family's been planning on it for two years, but everything for party was destroyed.
"We already payed for the ballroom. The church has already been payed for, but her dress, her bouquet, her crown, the things for the cake and all that, everything got burned down."
We've learned teachers from Red Sand Elementary School have bought clothes and other items to help out the family out of their own pocket.
