Cruz Vite was killed while working at the Paso Del Norte bridge two years ago.
Those who loved him say a New Year brings back the pain of that devastating day.
A small intimate vigil is how Lori Vite honors her brother Cruz every New Year's day.
The 58 year-old was killed January 1, 2008 while working as a security guard at a toll booth at the downtown bridge.
Police say Pablo Aragon, 29, punched Cruz several times - triggering a fatal heart attack.
"It's very fresh feels like it just happened especially being here on the day that it happened," Lori said. Cruz had worked as a security guard for more than 3years at a job his family says he loved. Although Lori's wounds haven't healed, she says coming to the place her brother died gives her a sense of peace. Lori hopes people who walk by and notice the candles and pictures, realize an important life was taken. She plans to be here for Cruz every New Year's Day, for as long as she's able to.
